Advanced Family Mediation (21 Hours) (RML-TRNG005)


Description

This role-play-based, 21-Hour course features experienced mediators, professional actors, experienced coaches and expert guest speakers. Its focus is on advanced-level skills training and is designed to meet certification requirements of the Ontario Association of Family Mediation. Through pre-recorded lectures, video demonstrations, readings, role plays and one-on-one coaching, participants will learn:


  • Advanced-level conflict analysis
  • Advanced skills and strategies for effective mediation
  • Advanced-level skills for identifying and assessing power imbalances in mediation, including protocols for med-arb and parenting coordination
  • Tips for effective mediation preparation
  • Advanced level skills and strategies, with feedback from coaches, on parenting, support and property mediations.
  • Advanced-level skills for drafting effective Mediation Summary Reports, with one-on-one feedback.
  • Ethical and legal challenges of being a family mediator
  • Next steps toward accreditation
  • Practice issues- building a reputation, available rosters, building a solo practice, marketing, billing and payments, managing challenges and finding opportunities.
