Description

This online program provides the bi-annual training on screening for power imbalances in arbitration as required by Ontario’s Ministry of the Attorney General. Topics include:


• Research on what IPV survivors need from their legal professionals

• Review of the regulatory context for power imbalance screening in family arbitration

• Updates on screening tools, resources and most effective practices

• A panel discussion featuring senior family arbitrators

• Demonstrations of screening protocols with helpful feedback and assignments

• Updates on case law on screening in family arbitration including parenting coordination


NOTE: This program was last updated in 2023 and continues to provide valuable content for those who wish to revisit it or who were unable to participate at that time. The program is delivered entirely asynchronously, with a certificate issued upon successful completion. Please refer to the syllabus for full details.

This program has been accredited for 3 hours and 10 minutes of Professionalism Content and 1 hour and 30 minutes of EDI Professionalism Content.
